As dedicated followers know, I'm obsessed with both elfy finery and unexplained disapparation.  I don't know whether this scene on Ludlow St. was a breakup, a Middle-Earth dustup that spilled over into our world, or--dare I wonder--a trap laid for me.

While we're on the subject, I'd like to point out that Dennis Parker was by no means the biggest ecstatic freak strutting around midtown in the 70s. What these guys may lack in exquisite teeth they make up in...every other goddamn thing.

They symbolize the birth of enlightened liberal tolerance; the sparrows are a native European species and the parrots are an Afro-Asian species that migrated to Europe and established colonies.
